About David

David is a keen birder, naturalist and semi-professional photographer. Accompanied by his SLR (Canon) and digiscoping optics (Kowa Optimed), he sets out to obtain portraits in the natural environment that are a little out of the ordinary, aiming especially to capture motion, behaviour and light through his trademark spontaneity. He enjoys displaying framed works at art galleries and exhibitions, and his photos have featured in books, newspapers and many magazines - his 'frosty Waxwing' taken at Foxton, Cambs, even featured in a December 2012 BBC1 weather forecast! David is the official photographer of the 'Royston in Blue' charity event that raises funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust. David was runner-up in the 2012 'Bird Photograph of the Year (Digiscoping section) competition run by 'British Birds' magazine and is a former winner of the Zeiss Ltd Award for bird photography.

David also undertakes commissions in the areas of natural history, event- (e.g. sportsdays, anniversaries), landscape- and macro-photography, plus outdoor portraiture – he can also suppply 1:1 or small-group tuition for those wishing to get the most out of their new hobby or to learn to optimize their images for web or print media through software such as 'Photoshop' – contact him for details!
